Panama, officially the Republic of Panama , is the southernmost country of Central America and, in turn, North America. Situated on an isthmus connecting North and South America, some categorize it as a transcontinental nation. It is bordered by Costa Rica to the north-west, Colombia to the south-east, the Caribbean Sea to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south. Its size is 75,000 km² with an estimated population of 3,300,000. Its capital is Panama City.

Panama is an international business center and is also a transit country. Although Panama is only the fourth largest economy in Central America, it is the largest consumer in Central America.
National governments can’t solve all our problems. The unprecedented environmental and economic crisis our planet faces will require an avalanche of global decisions in the coming decades. These decisions should be taken by directly-elected representatives of the people in a legitimate world parliament. Do you agree? If so, please help us make that happen by voting in favour of the idea in the global referendum, below.
